Beechworth Prison

Wangaratta Tafe supported a workshop studio training facility at the Beechworth Prison for the benefit of the prisoners. This education unit recycled two bays of a factory like structure with \'saw tooth\' rooves. A team of three associates David Moore Architect, Marie Aitken Architect and Ken Sibley Draftsman designed and documented the work for the Justice Dept, Government of Victoria. The unit includes a fully fitted kitchen for catering and hospitality, a library, a computer training room, a wood workshop and a metal workshop. The Heritage fabric of the building had to be accommodated by the modern steel walkways and large air handling units.
