Retrofitting Passive solar Design was the guiding principle in this house renovation relocating the parents bedroom ensuite robe to the front of the house and opening up the rear to the northern backyard. This enabled a large family room with north facing glass doors onto a verandah balcony to better serve the childrens bedrooms. \"The sparkling renovation by David Moore has a country freshness born of his experience designing houses in rural Victoria. [...] In a total re-organisation of the interior, the kitchen was one of the few spaces to remain in its existing location. One wall was removed to enlarge the meals area, and the external wall pushed out to create a bay window which brings in daylight and provides a view down the block to a distant creek. [...] There is a comfortable feeling of continuity between the old and the new. Light floods in everywhere, and the improved circulation means that all parts of the house relate in a comfortable and practical way\". Houses, Architect Designed Houses 12 (96/97)
